Partial Day Absences
It is the responsibility of the parent/guardian to correct all absences with the attendance office per **AR 5113 via a telephone call. Failure to do so will result in a CUT for each absence. Emails are not permitted to report any past or future absences.
**AR 5113 States that all absences which are not cleared within two (2) days after a student's return to school shall be recorded as unexcused (CUT). (see Truancy)
ARRIVING LATE:
- Students arriving late must have a parent call the attendance line prior to the student arriving at school and state:
- Grade
- Reason for the tardy (failure to provide a reason will be marked as unexcused, we cannot assume why your student is absent and use the first recorded)
- Date(s) Time
- Your name and relationship
- Students whose late arrival results in missing one or more entire periods must have a parent call the attendance line to clear the absence within 48 hours or it will be changed to an illegal absence (cut) and disciplinary action will be taken.
- Students must always sign in at the front office upon arrival before going to class even if a parent has called in. Students who are not in the classroom when the bell rings are considered tardy and or absent. In addition, students must always scan into their classroom upon arrival, even if there is a substitute, this is how their attendance is being taken.
LEAVING EARLY:
- An advance call from a parent/guardian must be received PRIOR to the student leaving campus, emails are not permitted. Failure to call prior to the student leaving campus will result in a CUT for any classes missed. Please state:
- Grade
- Reason for the tardy (failure to provide a reason will be marked as unexcused, we cannot assume why your student is absent and use the first recorded)
- Date(s) Time
- Your name and relationship
- Students must pick up an early release pass PRIOR to the class they are leaving. Passes are not delivered to students and we do not call and interrupt classes for students to leave early for an appointment. Please plan accordingly.
- Students must sign out at the Attendance Office BEFORE leaving campus. Failure to sign out at the Attendance Office will result in a CUT for any missed classes. Parents cannot clear these cuts. This is a safety policy that is strictly enforced and outlined in the student handbook. NO EXCEPTIONS.
If a student becomes ill while at school (not feeling well, migraine, sick, etc.), they MUST report to the nurse's office immediately.
UNCLEARED ABSENCES/ERRORS
- All unverified absences not cleared within 48 hours will be considered as a cut and disciplinary action will be taken.
- Students attempting to clear their own absences will be subject to disciplinary action.
- Students who believe they were mistakenly marked absent must submit the Teacher Absent Clear Form within 2 school days of the disputed absence, parents cannot clear these absences with a phone call.
I followed the absence reporting procedure for my student. Why am I getting an automated call regarding their absence?
Automated phone calls and email dialer messages for all unverified (uncleared) absences will be sent home to the primary parent’s home every day at 10:30 am. and 6:00 p.m. Due to the new safety measures implemented by the District, you will receive a call/email until your student actually checks in. If you have already called in to let us know your student will be arriving late, you may disregard the message/email.
