Important FAFSA information

  • FAFSA Data Delay: FAFSA will begin releasing batches of student aid information starting the first half of march, which means a further delay in colleges calculating and disseminating college financial aid offers.
  • Recommended: Students submit their completed and signed portion of the FAFSA prior to contributors to avoid auto submitting the student portion when submitting contributor portions.
  • If applying to more than 20 schools: confirm with each college that they recevied your FAFSA information before resubmitting.
  • Accounts are automatically deleted after 45 days of inactivity.

SRVHS receives numerous applications for local scholarships during the school year.  Be sure to check Naviance and the C&CC News Feed page regularly! Many thousands of dollars may be available to our students who apply.

  • Cal Grant: California awards grants to eligible students based on income level and GPA. All students who indicate a CA school on the first page of their FAFSA application will be considered for a CA Grant. See www.calgrants.org/ for detailed information regarding eligibility and award amounts. Please note: A GPA verification is required, and SRVUSD automatically uploads these details to FAFSA, so no other form is required for SRVHS students.
  • Middle Class Scholarship: This scholarship intends to reduce fees at CSU and UC Campuses by up to 40%. For more information go to: csac.ca.gov (CA Student Aid Commission).
  • Fast Web  Popular web site with thousands of scholarships available. Students will take an inventory to determine which scholarships they are eligible for.

  • College Board Scholarship Search Engine found on the College Board (SAT) website (Big Future)

This year's Financial Aid Information Session for Seniors and their parents is in the process of being scheduled. Please be on the lookout for announcement of date.

The FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) should be explored by ALL seniors seeking financial aid, or student loan option, or merit scholarships for 2 or 4 year colleges.  The application window usually opens on October 1, but is delayed this year due to changes FAFSA is making to the application.

Colleges may set their own due dates for when this form is due, so please check each school on your list.
