This list of scholarships is limited to local, Bay Area or state scholarships as well as national scholarships awarded to SRVHS students in the past, with a narrow application pool, or requested by SRVHS counseling or admin. This list will be updated as more scholarships are made available. Good luck! 
 
 

OCTOBER

Ninth-12th grade women, genderqueer, and non-binary students who are at least 13 are eligible to apply. There are 391 scholarships available. Award recipients are selected based on their aptitude and aspirations in technology and computing, as demonstrated by their computing experience, computing-related activities, leadership experience, tenacity in the face of barriers to access, and future plans.
 
$2,500-$20,000 U.S. Bank Student Scholarship, Due Oct. 30
High school students who are at least 17 years old and accepted or enrolled as an undergraduate student (at least six credit hours per semester) are eligible to apply. 325 awards are available. 
 
$35,000 VFW Annual Voice of Democracy, due midnight Oct. 31
This audio-essay program provides high school students with the unique opportunity to express themselves in regards to a democratic and patriotic-themed recorded essay. Scholarships are paid directly to recipient's American university, college, trade/technical school.
First place National: $35,000
Others range: $1,000-$21,000
 

NOVEMBER

Biracial, persons of color students who reside in California and Kentucky are eligible to apply. Preference is given to single parents. To apply, write about obstacles you’ve had to overcome in your life and how you will use your education to give back to your community.
 
26th Annual Youth Awards founded by the Hispanic Heritage Foundation, Due Nov. 3
The Youth Awards honor Latinx high school seniors who excel in the classroom and community and for their excellence in various categories including: Community Service, Education, Engineering, Entrepreneurship & Business, Green Sustainability, Healthcare & Science, Media & Entertainment, Public Service & Social Justice and Technology.
Gold, Silver and Bronze recipients are selected in each category and receive a one-time grant to fund their college education or to fund a community service effort that tackles a social issue. Thirty-one grants totaling $100,000 will be awarded.
 
Application requirements include:
  • Be currently enrolled in high school or home school program and graduating in the spring of 2025
  • Must have a minimum unweighted 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale or 7.5 on a 10.0 scale
  • Must enroll at an accredited higher education institution in 2025-2026
  • Be of Hispanic heritage (includes Spain, Brazil, Philippines)
  • If selected, attendance to the virtual regional awards ceremony is mandatory
 
$3,500 Pine Cone Foundation Scholarship, Due 8:59 p.m. Nov. 7
Provides financial assistance to high school seniors in California who have been diagnosed with a specific learning disability (SLD) and plan to attend community college in the state. Eligible applicants must be current seniors who are California residents attending a California school, have a 2.5 GPA or higher, have been diagnosed with a specific learning disability (SLD). Examples of SLDs include: dyslexia, dysgraphia, dyscalculia, nonverbal learning disorders, language processing disorders, etc.
 
$10,000 each for 10 students, Good Tidings Community Service Scholarship, Due at noon Nov. 8
This scholarship aims to reward low-income high school seniors who have committed themselves to community service. 
Application requirements include:  
 
  • High school senior graduating in Spring 2025
  • Resident of one of the following California counties: Alameda, Contra Costa, Lake, Marin, Monterey, Napa, Sacramento, San Benito, San Francisco, San Joaquin, San Mateo, Santa Cruz, Santa Clara, Solano, Sonoma, Stanislaus, Yolo
  • Winners must volunteer a minimum of 1 shift (2-4 hours) for our Good Tidings' Winter Wonderland Toy Giveaway Program between 12/9 - 12/20/23 in Burlingame, CA
  • Must plan on attending college/university, junior college, vocational, trade, or continuing education
  • For an application to be considered complete, each applicant must select a recommender who will upload a letter of recommendation via Kaleidoscope 
 
Winners will be notified by Wednesday, November 27, and scholarship checks will be dispersed over the course of four years via Kaleidoscope’s direct deposit feature. $1,000-$7,500 each for more than 500 students nationwide, ENF Most Valuable Student Contest, due Nov. 12
The Elks National Foundation (ENF) awards 500 four-year scholarships based on academics, leadership, and financial need. At the Lodge level, six students will receive level 1st, 2nd, and 3rd awards for female students and, also for male students. The lodge for SRVHS students is Walnut Creek Elks Lodge #1811 as their sponsoring Lodge. Will be announced in April 2025.
 
MVS scholarships are for students pursuing a four-year degree on a full-time basis (minimum of 12 semester hours), at a U.S. college or university next school year. Some important applicant details include:
 
  • Current high school seniors (or equivalent) who are citizens of the United States are eligible to apply.
  • Applicants do not have to be related to a member of the Elks.
  • Male and female students compete separately. 
 
This award is a one-time, non-renewable, need-based grant of up to $10,000. Approximately 20 pre-collegiate musicians ages 8-18 to receive the Award. The Award is given to driven and committed pre-collegiate musicians with financial need to help offset the often prohibitively expensive costs of studying classical music at a high level. Applications are accepted three times a year in April, September, and November.
 
Award amount varies Greenhouse Scholars Program, Due Nov. 21
The Greenhouse Scholars Program is available to graduating high school seniors residing in California, Colorado, Georgia, Illinois, New York, or North Carolina. Applicants will be evaluated for their leadership skills, academic success, and commitment to their community. High school seniors with a 3.5 GPA or higher, U.S. citizenship or residency who have overcome adversity, participate in volunteering or leadership, whose family's gross income is less than $80,000, and who are seeking a bachelor's degree are welcome to apply.

DECEMBER

 
Full-ride Coolidge Scholarship, Due 5 p.m. Dec. 11
This scholarship is open to juniors who plan to enroll in college the fall of 2026 to pursue public policy, are American citizens or permanent residents, and can demonstrate academic excellence. The applicant must read President Coolidge's  Autobiography, among other readings, and write three essays so start early!
 
Award amount varies, Violet Richardson Award, Due Dec. 15
This award honors young women between the ages of 14 and 18 for volunteer action such as fighting drugs, crime and violence, cleaning up the environment and working to end discrimination and poverty. The program begins at the local Soroptimist club level, where the type of award varies from a certificate and recognition at a club meeting or special event, to a monetary gift to the young woman and/or her charity.
 
$20,000 Science Ambassador Scholarship, Due. Dec. 16
An annual scholarship for undergraduate women and non-binary students in science, technology, engineering, or math. High school seniors and undergraduates attending a U.S. school may apply. Make a three-minute film explaining a STEM topic you are passionate about. 

JANUARY

$2,500 MENSA Scholarship, Due Jan. 15
Students who will be enrolled in college the Fall of 2025 are eligible to apply; 178 awards will be given out. Initial judging occurs a the local level, then regional, and finally national.
 
$1,000-$1,500 California Jaycee Foundation Scholarship, Due Jan. 17
Each year, the U.S. Junior Chamber International (JCI) Senate Foundation grants $1,500 scholarships to graduating high school seniors who plan to continue their education at an accredited post-secondary college or university.  Scholarships of $1,000 will be awarded to graduating high school seniors who plan to attend an accredited vocational or industrial school. The number of grants awarded annually is at the discretion of the Foundation and must be used for educational expenses in the first year of full-time study. Checks awarded will be made out in the name of the recipient and the educational institution of the recipient’s choice.
 

FEBRUARY

$4,000 each for 350 students nationwide, Elks Legacy Award, Due Feb. 3
Legacy Awards provide $4,000 scholarships for children and grandchildren of dues-paying Elk members.

MAY

 
California Scholarship Federation (CSF)
SRVHS has a chapter that students may join. Those who are active for at least four semesters (from second semester sophomore year to second semester senior year) and meet all requirements are eligible for the CSF Lifetime Membership Scholarship AKA Sealbearer their senior year of high school.
